A nostalgic exhibition exploring the history of the British Holiday Camp opens in the Treasure House in Beverley this coming Saturday, July 15th, and will be on display until September 16th. The first Holiday Camp appeared in 1894 on the Isle of Man; however it was in the 1930s that Billy Butlin launched the concept of the holiday camp in a gigantic way. The concept grew rapidly after the Second World War and dominated the British holiday scene through the 1950s and 1960s. This exhibition celebrates this uniquely British institution.
