GP practices to merge

NHS England has confirmed that two Beverley-based groups of GP surgeries are to merge. Greengates Medical Group, which has a total of 16,730 patients and runs surgeries in Greenwood Avenue, Walkergate and Minstergate as well as Cottingham Health Centre, is taking over Beverley and Molescroft surgeries, which looks after 4,000 patients from centres in Samman Road and Lockwood Road.

Health officials say the merger should be officially completed by the middle of next week and say it is good news for patients, offering long-term sustainability. Under the merger GPs at Samman Road will relocate to the nearby Greenwood Avenue site while the Molescroft surgery in Lockwood Road will operate as a satellite surgery with GPs from Greengates. Patients will be able to access services from any of the surgery sites.
