Furniture store’s future secured
The future of a Beverley furniture store appears to have been secured following a deal by DFS to rescue eight stores from Multiyork, which fell into administration in November. The eight are said to include the Beverley Multiyork in Saturday Market, along with those in Cheltenham, Epping, Guildford, Nottingham, St Albans, Winchester and Thurrock.
A statement issued by DFS said: “Under the Transaction the Group has acquired eight store leases, with six stores intended to be converted to trade as Sofa Workshop, and two intended to be converted to DFS. The members of the Multiyork retail teams at the eight transferred stores have been offered roles within the Group as part of the acquisition. Total consideration payable for the Transaction is £1.2 million.”
At the time of going into Administration, Multiyork had a total of 50 stores nation wide employing 550 people as well as a factory in York. When approached by Beverley FM, DFS were unable to clarify which brand the Beverley store would trade under in future.
