Business confidence is bouncing back in East Yorkshire according to new research by the region’s Chamber of Commerce. But the report also warns that the economy is still fragile in some places. Researchers told Beverley FM that many local companies are getting on with the job of rebuilding their businesses despite the delay in lifting COVID restrictions. They added that there’s also hope the retail and hospitality sector will rebound strongly as workers return to roles some businesses are currently having difficulties filling. The biggest external concerns included Inflation and Business Rates. Click here to download the full report.

The police have renewed their appeal for witnesses to come forward following a fatal road traffic collision in East Yorkshire. It happened on Saturday 26 June at 9pm on the A1033 Patrington Road where a red Nissan Juke travelling west bound veered onto the wrong side of the road and collided with a bicycle. The victim was identified this week as a father of five children, 56 year-old Richard Goodwin. Officers told Beverley FM that they believe the driver of a black Audi, who was travelling in the direction of Withernsea, could assist with their enquiries as a witness. They’re requesting that this driver, or anyone else who was in the area at the time, who has not yet spoken to the police, and may have valuable dash-cam footage, should contact them on their non-emergency phone line 101 quoting log number 652 of 26 June 2021.
