POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a collision on Coppleflat Lane near Bentley, which has left a motorbike rider fighting for his life. The accident, between a Honda NSS 300cc motorbike and a black Volkswagen Golf, happened around 12 noon on Wednesday. The motorbike rider was airlifted to hospital, where he remains, having sustained serious and potentially life-threatening injuries; the driver and two passengers in the Golf were not injured.

A police spokesperson told us: “If you saw either vehicle prior to the collision, or have dash cam footage from that stretch of road at the time of the collision, please contact us on 101 quoting log 171 of January 4”.

A BEVERLEY election steeped in ancient tradition will take place at the town’s Guildhall in March, when 12 new Pasture Masters and two auditors will be chosen by the Pasture Freemen. Nomination forms for the election, on Wednesday March 1, can now be obtained from the Clerk to the Pasture Masters at 25 Curlew Close, Beverley, HU17 7QN, and must be returned by February 13. According to the Beverley Pasture Act of 1836, both the electors and elected must have their names entered in the Pasture Freemen’s Roll.

THE MUCH-anticipated opening of Indian street food restaurant Mowgli, originally expected this spring, has been put back to the summer, according to the restaurant group’s social media. The restaurant will open on North Bar Within in premises formerly occupied by Solita.
