Train operator Northern is warning East Yorkshire customers, travelling from today and across the extended August bank holiday weekend, to check before they travel and be flexible with their journeys. A spokesperson told Beverley FM that services through Beverley to Scarborough, Bridlington and York are among those in high demand. In addition they highlighted other high-profile events, sporting fixtures and ongoing issues caused by the coronavirus pandemic as putting pressure on their services in the region. They’re also asking customers to be considerate of others by wearing face coverings on trains and at stations. Full details of Northern’s timetables here.

Burger King is now recruiting for up to 30 staff at their new Beverley restaurant, on Minster Way, which is set to open within the next few weeks. Local industry sources said that while the ‘whopper’ jobs boost is welcome, it comes at a time when the hospitality sector has been struggling to fill vacancies. This has been frustrated further with staff absences after testing positive for Covid-19.

A popular East Yorkshire visitor destination has just become a Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award winner. The accolade celebrates attractions which consistently deliver great experiences to travellers around the world. The award places Sewerby Hall and Gardens in the Top Ten Per Cent of attractions worldwide. More on this from East Riding of Yorkshire Council here.
