BEVERLEY Building Society staff are egg-cited by their latest campaign to tie in with Dove House Hospice being adopted as the society’s Charity of the Year for 2023. The idea is to collect enough Easter Eggs to make sure that every child in Dove House’s child bereavement groups receives one.
Society marketing manager Debbie Connolly told us there were three ways people could join in and help: Donate an egg at the society’s Saturday Market office, make a cash donation over the counter which will be used to buy eggs or via their dedicated JustGiving page. “It might just be an Easter Eggs to somebody but it’s going to bring a little bit of joy and hopefully a smile on the face of the children,” she said.
Full details of how you can help can be viewed on the ‘Latest News” page of the beverleybs.co.uk website. And the full interview with Debbie and Jethro Shearring, senior fundraiser with Dove House, who were guests on Thursday’s Morning Mix can be heard via the “listen again” facility on our website, BeverleyFM.com
During the year, Beverley Building Society hopes to raise a minimum £12,000 to help Dove House.
RESIDENTS wanting to hold a street part for The King’s Coronation don’t have long in which to apply for a street closure. East Yorkshire Council needs to have any applications by Friday April 14. The Coronation will be held on Saturday May 6 during a weekend of special events – for The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June last year, the council received 61 applications for street parties.
Carl Skelton, of the council, told us: “We’ve already had a number of applications, so we know communities really want to get into the spirit. We just don’t want people to leave it too late, so please apply as soon as you can.” To apply for a street party road closure visit www.eastriding.gov.uk/streetparty
