Beverley’s MP has been admiring progress on the latest development at East Riding College, which will provide specialist facilities for engineering, construction and computing courses. A £2 million institute of technology is being built at Flemingate, to help students gain higher-level skills. Graham Stuart welcomed the fact that five companies are designing the curriculum.

Voters of the future in East Yorkshire are to be given a chance to question the candidates for the area’s Police and Crime Commissioner. A youth hustings will take place next Thursday evening. Teenagers will question Keith Hunter for Labour, Conservative Jonathan Evison and Bob Morgan for the Lib Dems. The role oversees police spending and priorities. Polling day is May 6th.

Plans to develop allotments have been given the go-ahead in Woodmansey. The parish council’s set a five-year target to fill the plots at Long Lane. Of the 20 early expressions of interest confirmed in the latest available minutes, half were from Beverley residents. The council will spend the first year preparing the site.
