Beverley-based charity, ERVAS, has been awarded nearly £278,000 to develop new services for young people in the county. The National Lottery has given the organisation three years of funding to increase and co-ordinate youth voice and influence, including the chance to re-establish a Youth Parliament. The project’s due to be launched in June.

Time’s running out to give your views on the way local libraries should operate in a post-pandemic era. The Council says 1,300 responses have been received and it’s also encouraging people who don’t use libraries to complete the survey. Managers hope to reintroduce social groups in the coming months.  But the survey will help decide what people want to see. The survey can be found online at www.eastridinglibraries.co.uk, and it closes on 30 May.

Veteran fundraiser John Turner of Beverley has smashed his target of £750 for Christian Aid by raising nearly double that through cycling. John, who’s 75, has passed the 300-mile threshold and aims to reach 400 by the end of next week. His achievement coincides with Christian Aid’s 75th anniversary year.
