PLANS to build 30 houses following the demolition of the former St Nicholas Junior School in St Nicholas Road, Beverley, is recommended for approval when East Riding Council’s planning committee meets next Thursday, subject to various conditions around affordable housing, open space and traffic regulation are met.
In a report to the committee, councillors will be told St Nicholas School has been left derelict for a number of years and creates what is described as a “down trodden” appearance in the area, as well as attracting vandals.
THE BISHOP of Hull, Dr Eleanor Sanderson, will be leading a special joint service at St Mary’s Church in Beverley on Sunday morning. The “Celebration of Faith and Confirmation Service” begins at 10.30am. Meanwhile, the church’s Director of Music, Berenice Lewis, has been appointed as the new Musical Director of the Hull Male Voice Choir.
BEVERLEY’S Jacob’s Well charity holds its first charity sale of the year in the town tomorrow to raise much-need funds to help its work. The charity is still sending aid to Ukraine but says it has now exhausted all the funds raised so far to help and hopes to send a further £9,000 in medication soon. The sale takes place in the driveway of Toll Gavel Church from 9am to 3.30pm.
