A campaign has been launched to help tackle a rise in abusive behaviour towards healthcare workers in primary care across our area. East Riding of Yorkshire Clinical Commissioning Group is participating in the regional initiative. Local research has uncovered examples of how abusive patient behaviour had negatively impacted on staff morale. This included repeated instances of aggression, prejudice, threats and offensive language. Some healthcare workers have considered leaving the profession as a result. Officials told us that they hoped the campaign will encourage patients to consider the impact their attitudes and behaviours are having on health care workers. See the full story here

Police are warning East Riding residents to be on their guard against opportune burglars by keeping doors, windows and cars locked. There’s been a rise in criminals taking advantage of trusting homeowners who are literally offering an open door to brazen sneak-in burglars. More police advice here
