AMBULANCE response times in Hull and the East Riding are higher than the average across the rest of Yorkshire, as the service faces some of the highest levels of pressure ever, a report has said. The data, covering April to September, showed category two response times for conditions such as strokes in East Yorkshire was 48 minutes on average compared to Yorkshire’s almost 40 minutes.

Response time to life-threatening incidents was around 10 minutes on average in Hull and the East Riding compared to Yorkshire’s 9 minutes and 30 seconds. A Yorkshire Ambulance Service report to East Riding Council stated the amount of call-outs for life-threatening conditions in December was the highest ever recorded and the high levels of pressure were having a significant impact on it and patients.

Figures also showed 64.4 hours were lost on average every day due to ambulance handover delays at hospitals in December, compared to 16.4 a year before.

BEVERLEY MP Graham Stuart visited the Maa Indian Restaurant in Ladygate, Beverley, to congratulate them on winning his Beverley and Holderness Favourite Curry Awards 2022. The result was based on a public vote.

Following their victory, Mr Stuart has entered Maa into the Tiffin Cup, a national competition which includes a cook-off in the House of Commons later this year, judged by a panel led by celebrity chef Ainsley Harriott. Mr Stuart took the opportunity to try some of the food himself and declared: “The Chicken Madras and Bombay Aloo were probably the best I have ever tasted.”
