Electioneering will start in earnest in the New Year as 26 candidates go on the campaign trail in a bid to be elected as East Riding representatives for the UK Youth Parliament. It’s not only Santa who comes down the chimney in Beverley at Christmas. Humberside Police have revealed how one of their officers scaled a roof to gain entry to a property in North Bar Without, where a cannabis factory was discovered. They said a man had been arrested and was assisting with inquiries.

And finally, the Mayor of Beverley has launched a Christmas Treasure Hunt, which runs until this Saturday. For a £1 donation people can get a question sheet from the Scope shop on Butcher Row which contains clues and questions to be answered on a walk around the Minster, Flemingate and Station Square. Three winners will each get a £20 voucher prize; with all proceeds going to Scope.
