Thirty infant and primary schools in the East Riding are either oversubscribed or full to capacity as parents and carers receive their school place letters today. More than 97% have been given their first-choice school for children starting in September. Some 2,922 parents or carers applied for a place in Reception year.

Residents in East Yorkshire have until Tuesday to apply for a postal vote for May’s elections. In this area, people can vote for their next Police and Crime Commissioner, who decides on police spending and priorities. Details of the three candidates contesting the Humberside Police area can be found at the website www.choosemypcc.org.uk. In Beverley, the town council has a vacancy in the St Mary’s East Ward. Voters go to the polls on Thursday 6th May.

Charities and community groups have until April 27th to apply for grants from the Routh Wind Farm Fund. The deadline has been extended to allow more time for East Riding groups to submit bids.
