The drinking habits of women in Beverley and the East Riding are to come under scrutiny in new research to inform any necessary changes to local maternity services. The CHAMPION study aims to support midwives in their efforts to assess alcohol consumption before, during and after pregnancy. The local NHS hospitals trust told us they will be issuing confidential questionnaires at antenatal appointments to be completed on a voluntary basis. The results will identify any further training or clinical needs to enhance safe care for local families. Full details about the study here
An initiative to develop the riding skills of local motorcyclists is taking place in East Yorkshire. Organisers told Beverley FM that the aim is to provide a fun, relaxed and informative day run by passionate bikers who are serving or retired Bike Cops. They said the idea is to help bikers explore their ability level and discover ways to improve their skills, be safer and get more out of biking. The next workshop takes place on Sunday 30th October. All types of bikes are welcome, but participants must hold a full licence. For more information or to apply click here.
