JOBS and Opportunities Fairs are taking place across the East Riding, including Beverley, to help those aged 16 and over to access jobs, training and education. The events, run by East Riding Council’s Springboard programme, provide an opportunity for people seeking employment, training or education to meet with employers and education providers.
Over 20 organisations will be on hand at each Fair for people to chat to, and help bring employers and employees together. They include one at the Armstrong Centre in Beverley on May 3 from 2 – 6 pm. More details here
FREE compost giveaways are being held at nine centres across the East Riding next month, including Beverley, when some 55 tons of compost – around 4,500 bags – will be given away. Residents can drive to their nearest centre, where they can claim two 15kg bags of compost. The sessions include the Beverley council depot in Annie Reed Road on Saturday May 13 from 10am. THREE ADDRESSES in the Railway Street and Walkergate areas of Beverley were targeted by thieves in the early hours of the morning this week, resulting in two bicycles being stolen from garages – although one was later recovered nearby. Police say they believe the thieves were on mopeds and have been conducting house to house inquiries since in a bid to trace them.
