Every year Highgate Dental Practice in Beverley raises awareness for mouth cancer action month in November. This year Blue Wednesday takes place on November 15th which is the practice’s fundraising day and it is promoting one very simple but important message: please take just 45 seconds to self-check for mouth cancer – it can save your life.
Yesterday Lauren and Ellie from the Highgate Dental practice popped into the the Beverley FM studios to talk about the campaign. They told presenter Rachael Campey on the Morning Mix show that for Blue Wednesday the practice wants to encourage as many people as possible to check their mouth for the early warning signs of mouth cancer. Early diagnosis is vital for beating the disease. Spotting mouth cancer early can significantly change your quality of life.
You can take part in Blue Wednesday next week by sharing information about how to conduct a self-check at home, for instance – share the Highgate Facebook and Instagram links on your social media or just talk about if over a coffee with friends; word of mouth is the most contagious way to raise awareness.
This year the Highgate practice we will be doing a 12 hour cyclathon with all the staff taking it in turns to complete a non stop 12 hour cycle. Please pop in to donate or visit our just giving page.
