Flower power at Bishop Burton
Students from Bishop Burton College came away with a collection of silverware from this year’s floristry classes at the Harrogate Spring Flower Show. First year foundation degree student Rebecca Ladd used Tarzan and Jane as the inspiration behind her ‘Perfect Match’ entry, which was awarded best in show.
The brief was to design a bridal bouquet for an iconic couple, so using the jungle as her inspiration, Rebecca crafted an intricate wire frame and covered it in mosses, hanging vines and a range of exotic flora.
Two other students, Lauren Stoddard and Louise Brown, gained first places in their classes while other entries from Bishop Burton gained creditable second and third places. Now, following their success, the college has entered floristry teams into the Royal Horticultural Society shows at Tatton Park and Chelsea.
