Expansion plans for Premier Inn
Hot on the heels of the reopening of the Beverley Arms Hotel comes news that the Premier Inn at Flemingate wants to expand into a neighbouring empty retail unit, creating more bedrooms.
In a planning application submitted to East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Whitbread PLC, owners of Premier Inns, say extending into the current vacant Unit 2 at Flemingate would add another seven bedrooms to the hotel.
In a supporting letter, Whitbread states: “The proposed change of use extension will enable the hotel to better cope with periods of peak demand and would support the consistently high occupancy rates of the existing hotel.” The letter adds: “It would also bolster the overall tourism offer in the local area.”
Beverley Civic Society has already said it has no objection to the proposal ahead of it being discussed by the council’s planning committee.
