Georgian Society concert – 30 March 2023

Georgian Courtroom, Beverley Guildhall, 6.45pm for 7.30pm start. Organised by Georgian Society for East Yorkshire in partnership with the East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Museums Service. Tickets cost £16 per person or £8 per person for members of the Georgian Society for East Yorkshire, to include a glass of wine or soft drink.

A string quartet of some of the finest musicians in the East Riding will perform a rogramme of music showcases German composer Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel (1805-1847) to mark Women’s History Month this March. Her work was little-known during her lifetime, being over-shadowed by her brother Felix Mendelssohn, but in recent decades her significance and talent has become more recognised. Hensel’s stirring and energetic String Quartet in E-Flat Major,composed in 1834, is complemented in the programme by Haydn’s beautiful String Quartet in G Major, Op.76, No.1.
