East Riding Theatre launches new appeal
Currently celebrating its third birthday, Beverley’s East Riding Theatre has launched a fundraising campaign to raise £10,000 towards the purchase of a new state-of-the-art lighting rig which will enable the theatre to produce more ambitious in-house productions and host bigger-scale touring shows.
The theatre is inviting people to donate and name a leaf on a newly-installed ERT lighting tree located in the theatre’s central corridor: £100 buys a golden leaf, £50 a silver leaf and £25 a copper leaf. Each one will be identified by the donor’s name of choice. Alternatively, donors can splash out on a golden apple for £250.
Theatre manager Sue Kirkman explained it followed on from the successful “name a seat” appeal which had raised £18,000 to launch the theatre. “We are extremely grateful to York St John University who helped with a long-term loan of a theatre lighting system but, over the last three years, ERT has attracted and produced more and more ambitious shows and our current lighting rig is just not sustainable,” she said.
