Drinks go-ahead for new Indian restaurant
A new Indian restaurant opening in Beverley this month has been granted an alcohol licence, allowing them to serve drinks from 5.30 until 11pm each day. Sonali Spice is opening in the former Rumi’s Restaurant in New Walkergate and had originally applied for a late-night drinks licence until 2am at weekends and midnight during the week.
Beverley councillor Denis Healy praised restaurant owner Mohammed Hussain for listening to objections. “This is a residential area and they have taken into account the views of their neighbours, who will be delighted at their consideration for them and their families,” he said after a meeting of East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s licensing sub-committee.
