Doggie walks boost pub’s charity efforts
The landlord of a Beverley pub has launched monthly charity dog walks and so far this year has raised almost £1,000. Allen Slinger, of the Tiger Inn in Lairgate, leads the sessions with his rescue dog Mac, a cream labrador, on the first Sunday of the month, starting out from the pub at 9am for walks lasting around 40 minutes.
He charges £1 per dog with all proceeds going to charities including the Jerry Green Rescue Centre in Gilberdyke, which is where he adopted Mac from. Back at The Tiger after the doggie stroll, Allen provides free biscuits and water for the dogs and tea and coffee for walkers. Other charities supported by The Tiger include Beverley Community Lift; Macmillan; Beverley Ladies’ Netball and Hull City Ladies’ FC. No booking is required for the dog walks, just turn up on the day.
