D-I-Y parking ‘solution’

An angry resident frustrated by parking problems in his street has taken action by painting dotted white lines along the side of the road, which appears to indicate three new spaces for cars. The novel protest has been sparked, we’re told, because residents of Beaver Road are fed up with shoppers leaving their cars in the street, preventing people who live there from parking.

East Riding Council described it as an illegal action and says it is investigating. “It is an offence for the public to mark lines or erect signs on the highway without the consent of the highway authority under the Highways Act 1980,” a spokesman told Beverley FM.
