Crime figures rise
The number of crimes reported to Humberside Police has increased by 12 per cent, according to the latest figures released by the Office of National Statistics. Excluding cases of fraud, there were a total of 77,487 crimes recorded. In detail, there was a 49 per cent rise in the number of cases of violence without injury, a 16 per cent increase in reports of violence with injury and a 20 per cent increase in recorded sexual offences.
Public order offences increased by 58 per cent and possession of weapons by 31 per cent. However, there was a 12 per cent reduction in burglaries, a seven per cent reduction in robberies and a six per cent reduction in drug offences.
