CRICKET: Top speakers for East Riding Cricket Society

With summer over and the nights drawing in, East Riding Cricket Society returns in October for its 53rd winter season. No dress code, no formalities – just top speakers, a warm welcome and great cricket chat.

Get “closer to the action” with local hero and YCCC Club Captain Steve Patterson, Chief Executive Mark Arthur & Commercial Director Andy Dawson (14th November); Hull’s own Mark Robinson OBE, Head Coach of the World Cup-winning England Women (9th January); Glamorgan’s Malcolm Nash, bowler to Sir Garfield Sobers fifty years ago of the famous “Six Sixes” over (12th December); BBC Radio 5 Live’s Pat Murphy (13th February); and Alan Butcher, ex Surrey and England and Zimbabwe Head Coach (13th March).

First up on 10th October: From Test star to prison cell – ex England all-rounder Chris Lewis shares his powerful story. After 32 Tests and 53 1-Day Internationals, Chris retired aged just 30. His life went into a downward spiral and in 2008 he was convicted for attempted drug smuggling. Following his release, after six years in jail, he now works with the Professional Cricketers’ Association to help current and future players prepare better for life beyond the game.
