CRICKET: Rain dashes Beverley’s hopes of victory

Beverley Town Cricket Club (Saturday May 12)

Beverley were in a strong position when rain forced the abandonment of their fixture at Dunnington on Saturday.

Dunnington, who number former Yorkshire fast bowler Moin Ashraf in their side this season, batted first and were 152 all out after 45.1 overs and Beverley had progressed to 112 for the loss of just two wickets off 31 overs when the weather intervened.

After Ashraf had dispatched opener Peter Shally for a duck and fellow opener Harry Gamble had also gone cheaply for four, trapped LBW, Brad Dobson and Ben Hatfield steadied the ship; both not out at the close on 64 and 43 respectively.

Beverley took 12 points from the game and Dunnington 10.
