CRICKET: Beverley still pushing for promotion

Beverley Town head a group of three teams separated by nine points all with an eye on the second promotion spot from Yorkshire and District Cricket League’s Premier Division.

Harry Gamble’s unbeaten 134 in a draw at home against Pickering on Saturday, helped ensure a fascinating end to the season at Norwood Park.

Pete Shally (55) and Andy Burton (60 not out) also contributed to an impressive total of 308-3 which was rarely under threat.

Keiran Thompson (3-35) and Jamie Roe (3-59) both claiming three wickets as the visitors closed on 233-8, Andy Sharman (55) Max Harland (69) having both made half-centuries before Colin Frank sealed a share of the points with an unbeaten 49.
