CRICKET: Almost but not quite for Beverley
Beverley Town CC, 1st XI v Malton and Old Malton CC (Saturday May 19)
Openers Peter Shally and Harry Gamble put on 151 for the fall of the first wicket after being put into bat by Malton and Old Malton in Saturday’s Yorkshire and District Premier League mixture at Norwood; Shally being the first to go, caught off the bowling of Adam Spaven when he’d reached 75.
Gamble kicked on rot complete his century and was on 104 when eventually run out with the score one 235.
Beverley completed their 50 overs with a score of 265 for 4 – the other scorers being Brad Dobson on 67 and Anthony Spence bowled by Spaven for a duck.
Malton could only make 177 for 9 in reply off their 50 overs; Beverley needing just one more wicket to complete what would have been the first victory of the season.. As it was the home side gained 27 points for the draw and Malton 7 points.
