Celebrations for ‘local heroes’
Twenty-fifth anniversary celebrations have been held to mark the work of Hornsea Inshore Rescue and its founder and chairperson Sue Hickson-Marsay.
The service, which is funded entirely through donations, has saved hundreds of lives in all sorts of challenging conditions and among those paying tribute was Beverley and Holderness MP Graham Stuart.
He told Beverley FM: “The volunteers at Hornsea Inshore Rescue are local heroes and we owe them an enormous debt of gratitude. Sue’s determination and her transformative ideas have resulted in enhanced procedures and equipment that save countless lives.
“She has also demonstrated her commitment to educating the community about safety at sea, especially through the charity’s outreach work in schools and local businesses.”
