Cash boost for Street Angels
Volunteers who take to the streets of Beverley town centre every Saturday night to help keep people safe have been give more than £500 as the result of an initiative by the town’s Kings Head Hotel.
During a three-month period the Kings Head donated 50p for every burger sold to the Beverley Street Angels charity. A cheque for £556.50 was recently handed over.
The Street Angels began their efforts in July 2012. A spokesman told us: “We pick up empty bottles, discarded glasses and tin cans that could be used in a negative way later in the night.
“We listen and talk to all who want to spend time with us. Beverley Street Angels look out for vulnerable people by providing them with information and assistance; dispensing free bottled water, safe footwear and where necessary, first aid.”
