Businesses join forces to aid Beverley charity

Neighbouring businesses Beverley Garden Centre and Oldroyd’s Corner, in Hull Road, Woodmansey, have weighed in to help local charity Beverley Community Lift raise much-needed funds. They have set up a “guess the weight of the giant pumpkin” competition to support the charity and it’s hoped visitors will get involved and have some fun.

Paul Oldroyd, of Oldroyd’s Corner, told Beverley FM: “We’ve grown some giant pumpkins in our “All Season-All Weather Show Garden” which covers one acre under glass within Beverley Garden Centre, so we thought we would set up a competition to let visitors know about our special garden, and raise some funds for a local charity at the same time.

The competition costs £1 per guess, with prizes of afternoon tea for two at the garden centre and a meat voucher worth £10. The closing date is September 29th. Beverley Community Lift provides transport to take local elderly and disabled people out and about and is raising funds to buy a replacement minibus.
