Boost for Yorkshire Air Ambulance

Beverley Building Society’s support for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance has reached £1,500 in the past year; the latest donation being £480 as a result of the society’s annual meeting when members were promised that each vote they made would equate to a 50p donation.

Society Chief Executive Karl Elliott told us: “The Air Ambulance is such a crucial service, but many people might not even realise it relies on charitable donations. In the past year the Yorkshire Air Ambulance has attended more than 1,890 incidents, and 364 of these were in the East Yorkshire area, six of them in Beverley itself. It’s an honour for us to be able to support such a worthy organisation.”

Bob Smales, East Yorkshire fundraising manager for the air ambulance told Beverley FM: “We are an independent charity serving five million people across the whole of Yorkshire and need to raise £12,000 every day to keep our two state-of-the-art helicopters flying.”
