Boost for care home’s garden project

A £4,000 cheque to help the ‘Digging for Dementia’ project at The Old School House

A council-run care home in Beverley specialising in residential care for up to 40 people with dementia and complex care needs, has won £4,000 in one of the latest round of awards from the Tesco Bags of Helps Scheme. The money will be used for its ‘Digging for Dementia’ project to develop a garden area that is sensory, engaging, bright and safe to walk around and encourages residents to take part in social activities, allowing for communication and relationship building.

Dave Ryley, community champion at Tesco’s Beverley store, recently visited the  home in New Walkergate to find out more about what the money will be used for. He told Beverley FM: “”We are so pleased that such a fantastic project will be benefiting from our community grant scheme and can’t wait to come back and see the finished garden.”
