Blue & Golds bid for league ‘double”
BEVERLEY RUGBY LEAGUE BY NICK ROBINSON
The blue and golds will return to action after a three week lay off this Saturday (August 12th). Beverley ARLFC visit Queensbury in search of another league double as they defeated the Bradford district outfit 22-6 in the corresponding fixture back in June.
Head coach Scott Taylor has said to his troops that nothing less than maximum points from their three remaining fixtures will do if a top four play-off spot is to be realistically achieved. No fresh injury worries have surfaced during the gap in fixtures and Taylor could possibly have a rare luxury of fielding a side that could be close to full strength.
Meanwhile the ‘A’ team was in action last weekend and recorded a 54-10 victory. New coach Phil Horsfield has a 100 per cent record since taking charge and is doing a job that was much needed in bringing on the fringe players and ensuring that they get more game time.
For the record there were tries for J Reaves (2), Lewis Colrein, Ben Bardle,Bobby Howdle. Ryan Watkin, Dan Clarke, Lewis Straw, Ryan Anson and Dan Reaves with 7 conversions for Lewis Straw.
Kick off is 2.30pm Saturday’s trip to Queensbury who play at Halifax RUFC- their temporary home for 2017.
