Bigger and better Beverley Fm

Work is currently underway at Beverley FM as we move into a new studio complex in the heart of the town.

Almost four-and-a-half years after first going on air, the town’s dedicated community radio station is expanding its facilities and will soon boast three state-of-the-art broadcast studios plus office accommodation.

The major operation to move our base from the former caretaker’s house at Longcroft Upper School in Burton Road to our new home above Lairgate Motors, off Lairgate, began on Monday and is now nearing completion.

Maintaining a proud record of continuous broadcasting 24-hours a day, seven days a week, the station continues to be heard on 107.8FM in Beverley and the surrounding area, although on-line streaming services cannot currently be heard as work on the transmitter takes place.

Beverley FM managing director David Fewster described it as “a massive and momentous milestone” for the volunteer-run, not-for-profit, station. “This is an exciting new chapter in the Beverley FM story and will result in a much improved facility that is available for the whole community to share.”

He continued: “We are passionate about Beverley and East Yorkshire and proud to give access to the airwaves to individuals and organisations to promote all that’s good about the area, while at the same time providing an exciting mix of music, entertainment, news, and sport, all with a distinctly local Beverley feel, 24 hours a day from studios in the town.

“We look forward to welcoming you to our new studios very soon.”

Beverley FM had been based at Longcroft Upper School ever since first taking to the airwaves in January 2015 but has had to give up its former home as work continues to consolidate the Upper and Lower Longcroft schools on to the Upper School site.

During the short period of fitting out our new studios, some regular features and programmes are subject to change. But rest assured schedules will return to normal very soon.
