Beverley school praised by Ofsted

Pupils, staff and parents  at St Mary’s Church of England  Primary School in Beverley are celebrating after Ofsted inspectors rated it as a ‘good’ school, where pupil behaviour is ‘outstanding’.

Following its latest inspection, Ofsted found that overall effectiveness of the school, effectiveness of leadership and management, quality of teaching, outcomes for pupils and early years provision are all good. And the personal development, behaviour and welfare of pupils is described as outstanding.

Acting headteacher at the time of the inspection, Laura Wallis, who will take up the position on a permanent basis from September, was described as providing strong leadership.  “Since taking on this role, she has revitalised the ethos of the school and rapidly improved teaching and learning,” the report said.

Mrs Wallis said she was thrilled with the many positive comments included in the report, which added that parents and carers were overwhelmingly positive in their views about the school.
