Beverley Real Ale Festival this weekend
The seventh annual Beverley Real Ale Festival takes place this weekend (Friday October 19 and Saturday October 20) in St Mary’s Church, the festival’s original home. And organisers are promising big things, with more beer choice, more craft keg, more cider, more food choice, a new gin and prosecco bar and more live music. The move back to St Mary’s reflects the festival’s growth in popularity, having outgrown the Memorial Hall, its home for the past few years.
Organiser James Harper told Beverley FM: “ The original festival at St Mary’s in 2012 was by far the best of all those we’ve organised – the venue, the atmosphere, the people, the supporters and the volunteers all came together to make what was such a special event. It’s no secret that we have wanted the festival to return to St Mary’s and I’ve lost count of the times people have asked us when the festival would return there.”
The festival’s first session is from 1pm to 5.30pm on Friday. It costs £3.50 on the door and includes a festival glass. The evening session, from 6.30 to 11pm is a ticketed event with guaranteed access. Advanced tickets are priced at £5.50 and includes a festival souvenir glass. On the door tickets will be £8. On Saturday the festival is from mid-day to 11pm (or when the beer runs out) and is pay on the door. Admission costs £3.50 and includes a festival glass or is free if you bring a glass from any previous session.
