Beverley pub closes
The lights have gone out again at one of Beverley’s most distinctive pubs, the Rose and Crown, on the corner of North Bar Without and York Road, less than a year after it was given a new lease of life. The team behind popular Brantingham pub, the Triton Inn, took on the pub towards the end of last year hoping to bring their successful brand to the landmark grade two-listed building, majoring on quality home-made food. But they pulled out two weeks ago blaming, amongst other things, too many competing restaurants in the town and have now acquired and reopened the Fox & Coney in South Cave.
Meanwhile, another town pub, the Hayride, in Grange Way, closed on Sunday, although in this case it’s only temporary. The popular location is being given a major makeover ahead of reopening on Sunday November 12th.
