Beverley ‘institution’ closes
A Beverley shop trading for more than 50 years has closed. Adeli, of Wednesday Market, formerly G Jack & Son, closed for the last time on Friday. The delicatessen was a well-known supplier of Yorkshire produce, meats and cheeses, baked pies and pastries and was also a supplier of bespoke hampers.
Known as “Jacks” to locals, the shop had been owned and run by three generations of the Jack family and when they decided to hang up their aprons and retire, Nicky Kelly, Manageress for the previous 12 years, took over the reigns. In a posting on Facebook she said: “It is with great sadness and distress that Adeli of Beverley will stop trading. I personally would like to thank all our loyal customers for all their support and trade over the last 18 months. Also to the amazing staff who have tried their hardest to create a business and employment. Thank you all from the bottom of my broken heart.”
