Beverley clinch rugby league title
A 38 – 18 victory over their closest rivals Millom at the Leisure Centre on Saturday has seen Beverley Amateur Rugby League Club clinch the NFL Division 3 title at the first time of asking. With four games still left to play, the Blue & Golds’ next aim is to complete the season undefeated.
That begins this coming Saturday, with a home televised fixture against Dewsbury Celtic, which kicks off at 3.05pm. The club aims to make it a special day at the leisure centre, with junior games kicking off at 2pm plus a host of other attractions, including the band of the Church Lads and Girls Brigade.
Director of Rugby Pat Howdle told Beverley FM he was proud of the whole squad and the club’s backroom team for the efforts that have gone into achieving such a successful season and he believes the club will do well in Division 2 next season, when they will be coming up against a string of top teams, including the likes of Hull Dockers, who were playing premiership rugby just a couple of seasons ago.
This Saturday’s game will be televised by Freesport, which is available on Freeview channel 95, Sky 424 and Freesat 252.
