Beverley cafe saved
The Beverley branch of independent cafe chain Filmore and Union has been saved after the group, based in Wetherby, announced it was going into administration. Seven sites have been closed but ten others, including the Beverley outlet in Saturday Market, have been bought by American group Coffeesmiths Collective, which already operates 15 UK brands, including Baker & Spice, Nordic Bakery and Roasted Rituals.
Administrators FRP Advisory said the sale of the ten outlets have safeguarded 150 jobs, but the remaining seven had ceased trading with the loss of 80 posts. Toby Smith, chief executive officer of Coffeesmiths Collective, told Beverley FM: “We acquired the Beverley store with nine others on Friday afternoon and we are looking forward to working with the team in Beverley supporting the Filmore and Union brand.”
