Beverley Arms opening delayed
An ancient well discovered during building work at the historic Beverley Arms Hotel has caused a further delay to the proposed opening date by the new owners, Lancashire-based brewery and hotel group Daniel Thwaites. Work on the near year-long project has included the demolition of an ugly 1960s accommodation block and the construction of a 40-bed extension and it was during this phase of the operation that an ancient well was discovered.
It was originally hoped to have reopened the hotel in August this year; that was later revised to April 2018 and this week Thwaites confirmed to Beverley FM the date had now unfortunately been pushed back to the end of May next year.
“The ancient well was discovered when foundation works started on the new extension and a decision was taken to completely renovate it and incorporate it into the new design,” said media spokesman Sam Thomas. “The slight delay is obviously disappointing but the works will result in a nice outcome,” she told us.
