Beverley 10K: Gold medallist joins ‘silver’ run

And they’re off . . . runners in Sunday’s Beverley 10K

Large crowds gathered to see the Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, officially start the 25th running of Beverley Athletic Club’s 10K road race on Sunday morning (May 13), with 1,800 runners setting out on a course which took them across The Westwood to Walkington and back. Amongst those taking part was Olympic gold medallist Phelan Hill, a British rowing coxswain who struck gold in Rio in 2016, after getting bronze in London 2012.

First home in the men’s race was Kris Lecher, of Hull AC, in a time of 31 minutes 22 seconds. Becky Rigby won the woman’s race in 34:54.
