Bee research project gets local help

The chairman of the Beverley Beekeepers Association, Chris Coulson, is helping a DEFRA research project monitoring the spread of diseases that are killing native bees. Mr Coulson, who lives in Hull, keeps a check on hives in the area, notifying Department of Environment scientists of any problems as they occur.

Beverley Beekeepers Association covers the whole of the Eat Riding and currently has a membership of around 150. It is holding its annual auction of bees and beekeeping equipment at Woodmansey Village Hall on Sunday April 29th. More information is available by emailing auction@beverleybeekeepers.co.uk. The association’s annual honey show is at Driffield Showground on Wednesday July 18. For more information about keeping bees visit www.beverleybeekeepers.co.uk
