Bed & breakfast plan at Nellie’s

An historic Beverley pub wants to restore upstairs rooms to create new bed and breakfast accommodation. Sam Smiths Brewery, owners of the White Horse Inn in Hengate, better known as Nellie’s, has applied to East Riding of Yorkshire Council for permission to restore four upstairs rooms in the 17th century gas-lit building, which would then be let for overnight accommodation.

Sam Smiths told the council: “The main mission of the proposal is to bring the Hengate facing rooms into use as letting rooms, adding another feature to a unique public house.”

“The proposals present the opportunity to bring further business to the Beverley area as there are many local attractions that will benefit from having further letting rooms within the town,” its planning statement continued.
