ASDA boost for food bank

The Beverley-based East Yorkshire Food Bank has received a boost with a new partnership being formed with Asda’s Kingswood supermarket in Hull. It means shoppers at the store will be able to donate foodstuffs and other products to the foodbank from this weekend. Foodbank development manager Richard Newby, who’s based at their Mill Lane headquarters, told Beverley FM: “The current economic climate means more and more people are struggling to put food on the table and the foodbank needs more stock to meet demand for emergency supplies.”

As part of a national commitment to the foodbank movement Asda is investing £20 million to provide, amongst other things, freezers and fridges to allow fresh food and perishable items to be added to those currently given out.”
