Andy Kershaw: 16 February 2024

Andy Kershaw is a name familiar to many for his love and knowledge of music from around the Globe. He has been a broadcaster and DJ for many years, predominantly on radio.

At the Stage4Beverley Festival he will be playing some of his favourite tracks of music from Africa, the Caribbean and Latin America for an evening of dance music at the Beverley Memorial Hall, Friday 16th February 2034 at 07:30pm.

Andy’s interest in music from around the World, especially Africa, led him in a new direction. Fellow DJ Charlie Gillett introduced him to Stern’s African Records shop in London, and Lucy Durán exposed him to musicians like Youssou N’Dour and Toumani Diabaté. Simultaneously with John Peel, he discovered Zimbabwe’s the Bhundu Boys and their singer Biggie Tembo became Kershaw’s great friend.

Now in its eighth year Beverley’s Stage4 festival will take place between 11th to 18th February 2024 and staged in a number of great Beverley venues including: East Riding Theatre, Monks Walk Inn, Toll Gavel United Church & Beverley Memorial Hall

Andy’s African, Caribbean and Latin Dance Night will certainly get rid of the dark winter blues.
