An even brighter Christmas for Beverley . . .

Beverley can look forward to a brighter Christmas this year when the town’s lights are switched on on Sunday November 25th, coinciding with the annual Beverley Lions carol service around the Market Cross. The town’s Christmas Lights Appeal Group say this year’s display will be better than ever, with additional lights adding to the festive street scene.

Appeal group treasurer Joy Jack told Beverley FM another 20 “Little Blizzard” light effects had been bought this year at a cost of £250 each, with the overall cost of installing and maintaining the Christmas lights put at £10,000.

“We’ve decided not to try and compete against what’s happening at Flemingate in terms of a major switch-on event, but rather use what money we have raised over the past year to ensure a better display for people to enjoy,” she said.

Beverley Lions will light up their tree at the Market Cross on the Sunday afternoon, November 25th, and the official town lights will be switch-on to coincide with that.

As previously reported, Flemingate will be holding their lights switch-on and fireworks display on Friday November 23rd, from 5pm. The evening will also see Beverley’s Remarkable Rock Choir entertaining the crowds, while Beverley FM will also be present.
