Adult learning taster week – what will you do next?
With free taster courses running from Monday, 4th September to Thursday, 7th September, there has never been a better time to sign up for a course at an adult learning centre.
Taster sessions are usually two hours long and give an idea of what goes on in a classroom, what adult learning is like and to meet the tutors. There is no pressure to commit to anything further.
Taster sessions on offer include a wide range of subjects, such as flower arranging, crochet and knitting as well as computers and using a tablet.
After the “try out” sessions, learners may choose to enrol on one of the main autumn courses which cover a whole range of subjects, aimed at people aged 19 years and over, that can help improve skills to get a job, gain a new qualification or learn something completely new.
Learners can choose a level that is right for them (beginner, intermediate and advanced) and many of the courses lead to a nationally-recognised qualification.
Courses are delivered from one of four adult learning centres in the East Riding, including Beverley, which is based in Burden Road.
If you receive certain benefits you may be eligible for fee discounts, help towards the cost of a course, or a concession. Ask a course adviser when booking. Find out more and enrol online at www.eastriding.gov.uk/learn or call (01482) 887670.
